About our NATO Summit 2023 news

Latest news on the NATO Summit 2023, a meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the NATO member countries, held in Vilnius, Lithuania on 11-12 July 2023. It is the 33rd NATO summit and the first one to take place in the Baltic region.

The summit is addressing a range of important issues facing the Alliance, such as:

- The war in Ukraine and NATO's support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its aspirations for membership;
- The strengthening of NATO's deterrence and defense posture;
- The defense investment pledge and the need to increase spending on defense, potentially by redefining the target of 2 percent of GDP as a minimum, not a maximum;
- The systemic challenge from China;
- The enlargement of NATO with the formal accession of Sweden, and the integration of Finland and Sweden into core Alliance business.
