About our Queen Elizabeth II news

News on Elizabeth II, the Queen of the United Kingdom from 1952 until 2022, in a live news feed aggregated from sources around the world.

Elizabeth was born in London on 21 April 1926, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth). In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, with whom she had four children: Charles, formerly Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. Elizabeth became Queen when her father died in 1952, and her coronation took place on 2 June 1953 at Westminster Abbey, London.

At the time of her death on 8 September 2022, Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-lived British monarch, and the longest-serving female head of state in world history.
