Mozambique is located in southeastern Africa bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east, Tanzania to the north, Malawi and Zambia to the northwest, Zimbabwe to the west, and Eswatini and South Africa to the southwest. Mozambique gained its independence from Portugal since 1975 and has since been a member of the international community. The country is one of the poorest in the world, with its economy relying heavily upon subsistence agriculture and is classed by the United Nations as a Least Developed Country (LDC).
