Maine is considered a blue state. In the federal government, Maine is represented by two U.S. Senators and two U.S. Representatives. Sen. Susan Collins is a Republican whilst Sen. Angus King is an independent. Of the two Representatives, both are Democrats. Maine has a Democrat governor, Janet T. Mills, who was reelected in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by the Democrats, who have majorities in both chambers.
