Geely was established in 1986 as a refrigerator manufacturer and entered the automotive industry in 1997 with its Geely Auto brand. It expanded its portfolio by acquiring or partnering with foreign automakers, such as Volvo in 2010, Lotus in 2017, Smart in 2019, and Aston Martin in 2023.
